Biography

Background

Jessica A. Laudicina was born on Howard Air Force Base (Panama) in 1994. Both of her parents came from diverse but impoverished families. Her father made a career in the military while her mother worked hard in various jobs until she could run her own landscaping business. They settled to NJ in 1999 and have lived there since. At an early age she showed signs of being an intelligent creative type; she loved to draw, sing, read and write (even before she really could)!

Highschool

Jess graduated from Seneca High School in 2012 with honors. Extra circulars included being in the annual musical production, the local Teen Arts program, and AF JROTC. Outside of school she also took professional singing lessons, worked part-time at various jobs, and started college classes during her senior year. During this time she also helped raise her four nieces and nephews which she continues to do today.

Community College

JAL continued to work and pay her own way through community college. At Rowan College in Burlington County, she earned two Associates degrees with Dean’s list honors in Fine Art Photography as well as, Liberal Arts with a focus in literature. During her attendance, Jess also worked in the photography labs where she helped teach fellow students in lower-level classes.

Undergraduate

After RCBC Jess then attended Moore College of Art & Design. There she completed an internship, was displayed in several art shows, and in 2019 she graduated with Cum Laude Honors. She earned her Bachelors degree in Fine Art Photography & Digital Arts with a minor in Creative Writing. In 2018 Jess had to be admitted into a mental health hospital for CPTSD. She returned to school after 3 weeks and graduated on time but this experience greatly changed the course of her art.

Graduate

In 2021 JAL took the first steps to earn her Masters in Art Therapy. She hopes to use art and her own mental health experiences to help others who have suffered through trauma. Till she can open her own practice she plans to continue working as a local freelance artist and writer. Why Rabbits?

In 2016 a lone, newborn rabbit was in need of care after a dog “found” the mother and nest. After trying and failing to find a wildlife rescue center to take the kit, JAL had to take charge of its care instead. Despite a 10% chance of survival, the rabbit (dubbed Nemo), thrived and was successfully released. This experience made JAL realize she could deeply relate to the life of a rabbit. She currently raises two domestics and will occasionally rehabilitate wild kittens if other options are not available. In the future, she would love to use trained rabbits in her therapeutic practice.
